past continuous 



  • we usually the present continuous to talk about actions and situations that are happenning at the moment of speaking 
  • we also use the present continuous to talk about future plans, especially if the time and the action have already been arranged 
  • in this case, we normally use a future time

for example 
  1.     I was listening to music 
  2.     He was playing with his sister 


affirmative

  • we use the past continuous to talk about what was happening at a certain time or moment in the past 


affirmative form 

  • I/He/She/It             was sitting 
  • You/We/They        were sitting


negative form 
  • I/He/She             was not playing 
  • You/We/They      were not playing 
contracted 
  1. wasn`t
  2. weren`t

interrogative form
  • was     I/He/She
  • were   You/We/Are
